The Champlain Federal Credit Union was originally chartered by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) on July 3, 1956 under the name Sheridan Iron Works (S.I.W.) Employees FCU. In December 1964 the name was changed to the Sheridan Company Employees FCU. On May 17, 1977 our name changed again to Bindery Systems Division (B.S.D.) Employees FCU. Finally on September 26, 1986 the name became and is still Champlain Federal Credit Union (CFCU). With the closing of Harris Graphics, our main sponsor, NCUA authorized CFCU to open its membership to include multiple organizations.
